Bugs, bugs, bugs, we love bugs!
This week we have been learning about all different kinds of bugs! This week we got 2 class pets. They are baby butterflies or caterpillars. The baby butterfly eats lots and lots of food and then it makes a home, called a cocoon. The baby butterfly sleeps in its home for 2 weeks and when it comes out of the cocoon, it is a beautiful butterfly.

We learned about the lifecycle of a butterfly. I created a model to share with the students to help them understand how a caterpillar becomes a butterfly. After they all had a chance to touch and look at the model, we watched the animation, The Hungry Caterpillar.

For science, we unfroze bugs! It was so cold. We used water and tools to break open the ice and set the bugs free.

We learned about lots of bugs and found them hiding in the classroom. There are ladybugs, butterflies, grasshoppers, spiders, and so many more.
We practiced cutting for the first time! To the cut the paper we had to open and shut our hands.
We cut up green paper and used it for grass to make bug crowns.
I was out sick on Friday. The students made beautiful flowers with Kru Aum and P' Loi. The flowers are now are new window decorations!
Star of the Week
The Star of the Week is Uno! Uno has been chosen as the star of the week for his creativity, respectfulness, and confidence. The past few weeks Uno has been speaking more and more English. During snack time he confidently asks for "more please", "banana please", and "water please". He follow directions and is always the first one to sit down quietly for circle time and art activities. He also created his own game. He picked up a toy spider and hid it. He then sang "where is spider, where is spider" to communicate that he wanted me to find the spider. Great job this week Uno!
