Crocodile swamp!

Happy Friday!

Here is a look at everything we have done this week. We have been learning about different animals that live in a swamp.

On Monday we made a swamp for all the animals. We used slimy green jello, sticks, rocks, and leaves.

Paras was able to identify many animals and objects in the swamp. She even found some objects that were soft.

Uno enjoyed breaking up the jello and feeling the different textures of everything in the swamp bin.

Army did not like how slimy the jello felt so he used the crocodile to break it up.

We have also been learning that things are big and small. We sorted our toys into big and small piles on Tuesday.

Miss Cha Cha: "Is the elephant big or small?"
Paras: "It is big!"

Sun Sun really caught on to this topic. Later that day she brought me a small pile of playdoh and a big pile of playdoh!

For art this week we made frogs and crocodiles! They are both green and live in a swamp.

We used brown paper bags to make our frogs. We painted them green and then glued on eyes and a tongue.

After we finished making our frogs some of us played with our frogs during free play. I taught the kids that frogs use their big long tongues to catch bug to eat.

Paras was playing with her frog puppet and she said, "Eat butterfly bug"!

We used egg cartons and green paper to make crocodiles. Crocodiles can swim very fast and they say "snap, snap".

For science, we continued to watch our plants grow. They are getting so tall because we give them water everyday.

We also experimented with colors!

We did a little experiment using baking soda, vinegar, and food coloring. I had the students identify different colors. After that we added food coloring to the bowls of vinegar. Then each of the students got a spoon and they used their fine motor skills to scoop the vinegar into baking soda.

They loved watching the colors bubble when they touched the baking soda and listening for the fizzing sound.

We still have all of our pet caterpillars and enjoy watching them evolve into butterflies. Uno showed Kru. Aum a big and small caterpillar.

Some of the kids were brave enough to hold the caterpillar.

Star of the Week

The star of the week this week is Sun Sun. She is the star of the week because she has been kind to all of her friends. Army came in upset one morning and Sun Sun gave him her toys. Then she held his hand and walked him over to his footprint for circle time. It was so caring of her. She has also been a engaging in all activities and has been learning and repeating so many words and phrases. Great job Sun Sun.
