Airplanes fly, fly, fly!

On Monday, we had picture day! All of the students looked so cute in the school uniforms. I was very impressed with how well they handled being around a lot of new people. At first, they were very timid, but for the most part remained calm. After playing some games with the photographers, they were relaxed with big smiles.

Airplanes

This week we learned about airplanes. On Monday, we painted paper airplanes blue. The students were very concentrated on their paintings. They have all improved so much. During the first week many of them were unable to hold the paintbrush. Now they can all hold the paintbrush and have stronger and more defined painting strokes.

Daimyo was able to hold down his airplane as he painted.
I was very impressed with his long controlled painting strokes.

We went outside and practiced flying paper airplanes. Miss Cha Cha counted for us saying, "1, 2, 3, fly!" Some of the students joined into help with the counting.

We also learned about hot air balloons. We listened to "Up, Up, Up, Up in a Balloon" to teach the kids what a hot air balloon is. They all quietly listened and then started singing along with the "up, up, up" part of the song.

For science, we made balloon rockets. Before the balloon could go we had to identify the color of the balloon and count to 3. The kids loved watching the balloons fly across the classroom.

Miss Cha Cha: "What color is the balloon?"
Uno: "Red"

"1, 2, 3, go!!"

Some of them were even brave enough to help Miss Cha Cha.

We also made our very own hot air balloons for art that are now hanging outside on the door.

We made flying collages. Each student got a brown paper bag filled with photos of different things that we can see in the sky. We glued the photos onto a blue piece of paper. The kids loved discovering what was inside the brown paper bag.

Star of the Week

This week the star of the week is Por-Dee! He has improved so much this past week. He has been trying so many new activities, engaging in class activities, playing with his friends, he started saying "please", and giving every one he sees a big smile.
