Week 4 in Pre-Nursery

Farm Animals

We continued to learn about  farm animals this week. For art class each student made a sheep mask. The students put glue all over their circle plate and then stuck cotton balls to it. They all turned out adorable.

Miss Cha Cha asked, "What does a sheep say?"
Paras replied, "Baaaa"

We also did a cleaning the barn activity. The barns were so dirty that we could not see what animals were inside. So the students used sponges and water to clean the barn and discover what was hiding behind all that dirt...

Paras found a cow!

We have also been doing matching and recognition games. I have put pictures of different farm animals around the green mat and give students toy animals to match with the pictures.

Fishing

On Thursday we went fishing for ducks! They loved it. All of them were speaking in English and showing understanding. I would ask them "where is a yellow duck" and all three of them picked up a yellow duck. We also had 3 ducks that were different sizes. They called them "baby duck", "mommy duck", and "daddy duck".

Paras caught a yellow duck and said "want pink duck"

I told the students to "share the ducks" and they all passed a duck to a friend

Shapes and Colors

This week we introduced 2 more shapes, squares and rectangles. For art class, they painted an elephant made of rectangles.

Students also made shape towers. They stacked up different shapes to see how tall they could make their tower. Some students even made towers made of 1 color or 1 shape.

Shape Sorting

The students are doing so well at recognizing their colors. We have been doing color sorting with our circle buttons. Students have to pick up the buttons and find the matching container. Some of them are even saying the name of the color when they pick up the button!

Development Through Play

It has been wonderful to watch them continue to grow and develop by playing in the classroom together. They are developing physically, mentally, and emotionally. This week I was very impressed with how well they are understanding the concept of sharing with their friends. Here are a couple of highlights from playtime this week.

During free play Ceci has started role playing. She likes to read the
baby a bed time story. She says the name of the food then rubs the babies tummy
 and says "yum, yum".

It has been great to see Daimyo and Uno play together. They both love cars and learning about
the different sounds they make. Daiymo has even been saying the names of
some the vehicles like "car" and "motorbike". While Uno will pick up a vehicle and make the correct sound.

Looking forward to more fun in week 5! Next week is International week and we will be doing loads of fun crafts to teach the students all about Japan.
