Firstly, Happy Birthday to Army! He turned 2 on Thursday! Thank you so much to Army and his mom for bringing in a delicious cake to share with everyone.
On Monday, we learned about Japan's flag. It is red and white and it has 1 big circle. Each student got a flag and a big red circle. I was impressed with how well they matched the circles together. They loved waving them around the classroom.
On Tuesday, all of the students helped decorate the Japanese temple by making beautiful fireworks. We used black paper, cut up toilet paper rolls, paint, and sparkles! The kids loved the sparkles and the temple looks beautiful.
The highest mountain in Japan is Mt. Fuji. The last time Japan erupted was in 1707. For science, we made a volcano and watched it explode. First, all of the students used their noses to smell the vinegar. They all made very funny faces because the vinegar smelled bad. They put their fine motor skills to use and helped me put the baking soda inside the volcano. Then I added the vinegar. The kids all loved it and wanted to do it again and again. They identified different colors and shapes that they saw during the experiment.
| "What shape is the volcano like?" Ceci answered, "triangle" |
| Miss Cha Cha, "Who wants to help the teacher?" Daimyo immediately jumped up and walked over to help |
On Thursday, we used bubble wrap to paint Cherry Blossom Trees. We know that the tree trunk and branches are brown and the leaves are pink.

We wrapped up the week in Japan by doing our final project together, making fans.
We made sushi playdoh and practiced using our chopsticks to pick up the sushi.
Star of the Week
The PN Star of the Week is Paras! She has improved so much this week. She started staying for the afternoons and has adjusted so well and is being very independent. This week she was able to eat, put on her shoes, and go to sleep all by herself. She is playing nicely with her friends, she is always saying "please" and "thank you", and she participated in all activities this week. Great job Paras!
